Feature Presentation: Leadership Luncheon

Wednesday, June 14, 2017            Time: 11:45 a.m.       Location: Coquina D & E

Mark Neveau, Former DHS/FEMA - Federal Coordinating Officer

Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy was the 2nd costliest hurricane in US history. It traumatized the most urbanized area of our country – New York City and Long Island - and impacted 24 states.  233 people were killed.

The impacts to our citizens, the country’s infrastructure, the financial markets, all modes of transportation and government at all levels, had never before been seen!  No food in stores, no money in ATMS, no gasoline available, no electricity or natural gas for days. To make conditions worse, the freezing snow fell compounding an already desperate population.

Mark will tell the untold stories of recovery and heroism. Learn about the “Sheltering and Temporary Essential Power program” better known as STEP. Ponder how approving authorities might regulate safety in a highly charged political environment.
