The Buildings Officials Association of Florida (BOAF), under the sponsorship of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Florida Building Commission, are pleased to present this 4-hour grant-funded building code training course:

Use and Occupancy

BCAIB #5008369 - CILB: Reciprocal - ICC Preferred Provider # 19892 - 4 hours

Course Description: Join us for this 4 hour course as we explore the ways in which buildings are utilized and link the proposed use to the Occupancy Group and Classification requirements of the Florida Building Code. Today- buildings and the way we use them are not always straight forward  and easily classified into a single occupancy. Building Officials, Plans Examiners, and Inspectors must be able to identify; single use, mixed use, incidental uses, as well as those situations when the proposed work includes a Change of Occupancy Group and or Classification. Upon completing this course participants will be able to navigate FBC Chapters 3,4, and 5 as they determine the Occupancy Group and Classification of every building.

This course is offered at no cost to license holders in the state of Florida (building inspectors, plans examiners, building code officials, licensed contractors, etc.). Non-licensed employees must provide verification of employment on letterhead, a certificate of workers compensation, or workers comp exemption. Click here for a sample verification letter.

Seating capacity is limited based on location. Online registration required - classes fill up fast, so reserve early!

Please bring the following books:
2015 International Building Code or 6th Edition (2017) Florida Building Code
2015 International Existing Building Code or 6th Edition (2017) Florida Existing Building Code

A non-refundable $5 refreshment fee will be charged when you register. Building Officials who cannot pay online are welcome to pay at the door.
