Cross Training Programs

BOAF’s Cross Training Programs for Inspectors and Plans Examiners are the most flexible and affordable programs available in Florida. These programs are available to individuals licensed through F.S. 468 or certified though F.S. 633. Successful completion of BOAF’s Cross Training Program replaces the 5-year experience requirement in that additional category.

Built on a foundation of building code courses designed for new-hires or individuals seeking licensure in additional categories, online training courses will be available on demand. Students may work through the coursework at their own speed. To learn more about how BOAF online courses work, click here. Course registration fees start at $49 per hour for BOAF state members, with a discount for multi-hour courses.

Each program includes a nonrefundable fee of $495, that is broken down into two payments. The Pre-Application fee $250 is due upon submission. Upon receiving written authorization of entry into the program, the candidate may begin training. All training must be completed within 3 years of the approval date. Upon completion of all coursework and OJT, a final application fee of $245 is due upon submission.

Each trade-program listed below is a total of 200 hours and includes coursework and on-the-job (OJT) training hours. Several courses overlap the trades areas. For example, Ethics in Construction is a requirement in each of the four trades programs.
